MinorHack Credits

History

MinorHack started, ostensibly, on December 31, 2005. At 11 p.m., I, CGamesPlay, started a thread at Allegro.cc requesting some media files with which I would use to create a game before January 1st, 2006. I did that (you can download the game from this page), and everything was quiet for 6 months.

Then one slow day in July, I was bored and decided to start another competition. This time around, 3 other people joined in, officially creating the first MinorHack. There was no voting system at this point, so there was no winner.

Up until this point, the competition was run entirely on the forums with only minimal assistance from external web sites. However the second official competition came with the website which you see here, and brought in a whopping 7 entries. It also began a regular scheduling of MinorHack, once every two weeks. This continued for two more months, when "competition proposals" were added. This inadvertently put the competition in hiatus for 4 months, when the regular scheduling was resumed.

Over the months, the entry voting and rating system was finalized, and rules have been added, and the site has grown to the state that it is in now. The goal of the competition is and has always been to have fun, and build community spirit. We all hope you participate!
